At Sunshine Coast Health Centre, we offer an alcohol rehabilitation center for successful, mature men looking for a way out of a life spiraling out of control professionally, socially and physically. Bellwood Health Services is a Centre of Excellence in the treatment of addictions. Since 1984, Bellwood has provided treatment for individuals and families across Canada experiencing problems with alcohol and drugs, or behaviours relating to gambling, sex, and eating. Our 60-bed facility is located in Toronto and is accredited by the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation.
Our programs take a comprehensive approach to treatment, addressing clients’ physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being. Clients receive extensive medical support, counselling, and therapy from a highly qualified, interdisciplinary team of medical personnel and therapists, including physicians, clinical psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers, addiction counsellors, nutritionists, nurses and fitness coaches.
Bellwood conducts ongoing research to evaluate its treatment services. Our continuous quality improvement program ensures that services meet the highest standards of excellence.
In addition to residential programs, Bellwood offers outpatient groups, individual counselling, family programs, aftercare support services and groups. Additional specialized services include treatment programs for health care professionals and individuals employed in hazardous situations.

For more than a decade EDGEWOOD, an 80-bed inpatient, 30-bed extended care residential treatment centre, has helped people from around the world regain dignity, integrity and healthy self-esteem; a life in which physical, mental and emotional health is restored and the spirit is healed.
Located in Nanaimo on beautiful Vancouver Island, EDGEWOOD’s multi-disciplinary team approach to treating addiction also includes diagnosis and treatment for co-occurring disorders by our resident psychiatrists. Treatment is open-ended and individualized to meet specific needs, from detoxification to aftercare, providing the best chance for recovery. Both our medical and psychiatric directors are ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) certified.
Post-treatment, EDGEWOOD’s staff works closely with patients developing a comprehensive continuing care plan and providing support in their ongoing recovery process. For those returning to communities where aftercare is challenging to access, EDGEWOOD now offers a ‘virtual’ lifeline, Online Aftercare—face-to-face, real-time group meetings facilitated by familiar EDGEWOOD staff.

Orchard Recovery & Treatment Centre
Deciding to seek treatment for yourself or a loved one may be the most important decision of your life. At The Orchard Recovery Center, we believe that addiction can be healed with a caring, respectful, holistic approach where clients feel safe to begin the healing process and learn how to recover from their addiction to drugs or alcohol. Our professional addiction counsellors, our Addictionologist, medical staff, and support care workers provide help to those in need of rehabilitation for alcoholism, drug addiction, chemical dependency and other self-defeating behaviours in a comfortable, intimate, and respectful environment.
At the Orchard we depart from institutional rehabilitation by creating a "therapeutic community" that is a loving and caring sober home for our clients to disconnect from their addiction and reconnect to a higher presence. Part of our programming includes individual and group counselling, family therapy, aftercare support, music and art therapy, fitness coaching and yoga.
Tucked away on a quiet orchard our residential facility is located near Vancouver, BC on picturesque Bowen Island. Our treatment program is enhanced by our location, covering several landscaped areas on four properties. As the number of clients is limited to a maximum of 25, thus ensuring that individual treatment needs are understood and effectively addressed.
How is The Orchard different?
- Our preadmission process assists family members in coaching their loved one into treatment. We maintain contact throughout the process and help alleviate worries and fears of both the client and the loved ones, who are also suffering.
- The facility is beautiful, not institutional, and we provide our clients the use of our fully equipped gym. The residence is a restored Country Inn at a separate location where clients can retreat at the end of the day and enjoy the fireplace or the heated pool in warmer weather.
- The food we prepare is beyond compare. Our chefs focus on fresh, organic ingredients and a nutritious menu plan with enough variety to please any preference or restriction.
- The Orchard has created a loving, therapeutic community where clients experience a full range of traditional and alternative therapies to address mind, body and spirit. We introduce our clients to the grace of living sober.
